The Pakaraimas are wet all year, and the tepuis make their own weather. Temperatures in the valleys are a few degrees lower than on the coast; on the summit they can fall close to freezing at night.
Season by season
January to March: driest period
The best chance of clear mornings and manageable rivers. Still expect showers. This is when most expeditions are planned.
April to August: the rains
Persistent heavy rain, swollen rivers and summits hidden for days. Waterfalls are spectacular, travel is very difficult, and flights are often cancelled.
September to December: drier, then showery
A second window, with falling rivers in September and October and more rain again towards December.

Visitor numbers & booking ahead
You will meet no other visitors on the Guyanese side. Expeditions run only when a group commissions one, so the planning horizon is long: begin at least six months ahead to fix dates, flights and village permissions.
